Top 12 Superfood Powders for Weight Loss

Superfoods are becoming more and more popular by the day, and why not? They are packed with an overwhelming amount of nutrients and each of them has more than a dozen health benefits. In fact, weight loss is only one of them!

And just when you thought that it can’t get any better than that, superfood powders came along!

Because let’s face it, superfoods are great, but there is simply no way to incorporate all of them into your current diet. Not to mention that their nutrients can mellow down depending on our preparation.

And of course, due to our personal preferences, there are superfoods that we simply don’t find appetizing.

That’s where superfood powders can come into play. They are processed in a way that preserves all the nutrients, and they are broken down into a form that you can easily mix in with whatever you’re eating—whether that be a smoothie, or a cupcake, or even eggs!

In this post, we are going to share with you twelve amazing superfood powders when it comes to weight loss, along with our favorite selections.

1. Acai

If you’re a fitness fan, then you have probably heard of acai (pronounced as ah-sigh-ee) already. A close cousin of another superfood, the blueberry, acai has a high polyphenol content that makes it a very competent antioxidant. But more than that, according to one study, it can reduce “exercise-induced muscle damage”, that can allow you to engage in your weight-loss fitness routine minus unwanted injury!

Our favorite acai powder is the Organic Acai Powder by Feel Good Organics.

Here’s a quick tip, you can blend it in with your favorite post-workout smoothie.

2. Cocoa

Since cocoa is one of the most popular superfood powders even way before the superfood craze, we are not going to be suprised if you have already tasted this before. In fact, who knew that something as indulgent as cocoa can be good for weight loss?

In fact, in one study done by the Institute of Diet and Health in Mainz, Germany, that involved two groups of people: one being instructed to keep a low-carb diet with an additional 42 grams of chocolate (which contains 81% cocoa), and another group with the same low-carb diet MINUS the chocolate, it was found that by the end of the study, the group with chocolate in their diet had not only experienced success in their weight-loss goals, but their moods were also relatively better.

No surprise there. If you gave me chocolate every day, heck, even I would feel happier!

Anyway, our favorite cocoa powder has got to be Wild Cocoa Powder by Wild Foods.

Looking for an alternative to your good ol’ cup of joe? Then why not drink a hot cup of cocoa instead?

3. Matcha

Speaking of early morning drinks, one popular substitute for coffee is green tea, and why not? It’s refreshing and smoothing taste can certainly calm down any hectic morning.

There are a lot of different green teas out there, but our favorite has got to be matcha, which is specially grown green tea that has more chlorophyll content.

But…we’re not here to talk about the color of leaves, aren’t we? No. We’re here to talk about weight loss, which is, coincidentally, one of the charms of green tea.

In one scientific literature review on the beneficial effects of green tea, it was found that it is good against obesity and in reducing the risk of heart disease.

Our favorite matcha powder is the Oishi Organic Matcha: Stone Ground Green Tea Powder by Matcha Konomi.

Want to make it creamier? Add in some milk and honey to taste and bingo! You have a comforting cup of milk tea. Just make sure that you add raw honey and skim milk so you’ll not suffer from unwanted calories.

4. Moringa

While we are already in the topic of green goodness, then it’s probably high time to talk about moringa too. Moringa, which is an ingredient more commonly used in Asia (but is now gaining popularity here in the US), is a good addition to any weight-loss diet thanks to its component moringa isothiocyanates.

In a recent study, it was found that moringa concentrate showed promising results in reducing body weight gain and improving blood sugar levels.

The Organic Moringa Leaf Powder by Feel Good Organics is our top choice for moringa powders.

Moringa has a deliciously nutty flavor that you can stir into your favorite soup.

5. Spirulina

Sharing the spotlight with moringa as one of the trending superfoods today, spirulina is a microalgae that grows in the water, both fresh and salty.

While that doesn’t sound very appetizing, you will be pleased to learn that spirulina is a very good weight loss supplement. In a study published in the European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences, participants who regularly consumed spirulina improved their weight and body mass indexes in just three months!

Searching for a delicious spirulina powder? You can try Pure Hawaiian Spirulina Powder by Nutrex Hawaii.

The only downside we’ve found in spirulina is that its taste can be a little bit weird, to say the least. However, you can make it sinfully delicious by mixing it with cocoa and making small spirulina truffles. Try it, you’ll love it.

Anyway, who ever said that healthy stuff had to be all green? They can be in the form of seeds too, you know. That’s why we’re going to share our favorite seed trio next.

That’s what one study points out, at least.

Add our favorite bee pollen powder, Organic Bee Pollen by Greenbow to your overnight oats and wake up to a happy and nutrient-packed morning.

We recommend consulting your doctor first before consuming bee pollen powder if you’re allergic to pollen, though.

10. Camu Camu

Camu…what? This overly underrated Amazonian berry is slowly gaining popularity. Apparently, it’s filled with great anti-inflammatory compounds and it’s currently making waves in the area of pain reduction.

But aside from that, camu camu also has good weight loss properties. According to the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, camu camu does not only reduce fat in white adipose tissues but it can also improve total cholesterol, triglyceride, and blood sugar levels.

One of our favorite ways of using camu camu powder is by adding it to our favorite tea. Add it to green tea and you’ll enjoy even twice the benefits! Don’t use it on boiling hot water, though.

Anyway, here’s our top choice for camu camu powder: Organic Camu Camu Powder by Feel Good Organics.

11. Turmeric

Turmeric is one of those superfoods that are so popular, they don’t even need an introduction anymore! A lot of studies have also been dedicated in finding out what makes turmeric tick.

However, one particular study, caught our eye. According to one published in the European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences, curcumin, a compound present in turmeric, was given to 44 subjects.

And in only 30 days, these participants who received curcumin administration shown significant results on increased weight loss, waistline reduction, and hip circumference! Man, curcumin made them sexy.

Sign me up for the next study! In the meantime, I’ll enjoy a dish of chicken curry first (I whip up a really mean one), with Feel Good Organics’ Organic Turmeric Powder.
